Conflicts of Interest Unpacked: Conflicts of interest can certainly cause serious harm when they are mishandled, yet their occurrence is not unusual in our professional lives. In this course, you’ll learn about some of your key professional obligations regarding conflicts of interest.

Ethics: Conversations: Organizations with strong ethics-based cultures are significantly less prone to misconduct. Driving the right culture is part of our professional responsibility, and is key to organizational success, but culture can be elusive and dynamic. In this course, you will hear typical scenarios that take place at the boardroom table and less formal conversations that happen in the hallways. You will also hear thoughts on building and maintaining an ethics-based culture from respected colleagues and experts in the field.

Ethics: Mis and Disinformation and Professional Skepticism: Learn to examine and de-bunk common examples of ways to present questionable or misleading messages, how to apply critical thinking to ask probing questions and how skepticism is a key part of the judgment needed as professionals to meet ethical obligations under the CPA Code of Professional Conduct. 

Intercultural Leadership: This course is about being an effective leader in diverse contexts with team members from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. This calls for respect and an authentic desire to learn to be a better leader to diverse teams. You may find this course to be challenging at times, as it encourages each participant to examine, re-evaluate and change long-held beliefs, biases, assumptions and behaviours.

Business Valuations – Fundamentals: This seminar provides participants with practical insight into business valuation. Specifically, participants will learn about and apply various valuation tools and approaches to the valuation process. This seminar also focuses on business valuation interpretation and the mechanics of the valuation process.

Corporate Restructuring - Fundamentals: You or your client’s business and personal situation is constantly changing. The existing business structure may no longer be suitable or ideal and you are seeking tax-efficient alternatives This seminar highlights fundamental income tax considerations that arise in corporate reorganizations, including a discussion of related provisions and key pitfalls to avoid.

Management Accounting – Fundamentals: For professional accountants that have not exercised those management accounting muscles in some time (maybe since university), this course will help participants apply management accounting concepts to generate new ideas for problem solving.

GST/HST - Fundamentals: This seminar provides participants an in-depth look at CRA Audit procedures and discusses how audits are selected, common assessment areas, and how to minimize audit assessments. The application of Canada’s federal sales tax, the GST/HST is often far more complex than practitioners or businesses realize. The GST/HST principles involved are often quite different from those applied to income tax. This course will provide an overview a variety of important concepts related to the application and the recovery of the GST/HST.
