Deadlines Approaching for Awards, Scholarships and Financial Assistance

The CPA Manitoba Foundation is pleased to offer a variety of awards, scholarships and financial assistance opportunities for CPA candidates and students. 

Know someone who might be eligible? Please share these opportunities with them or with your network. The Foundation encourages all those who are eligible to apply.

Below is a list of all awards, scholarships and financial assistance opportunities available, as well as information about the criteria and deadlines. 
 

  1. New - CPA Insurance Plans West: Family Support Bursary
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The Foundation is pleased to introduce a new financial assistance opportunity, generously supported by CPA Insurance Plans West. The Family Support Bursary provides eligible candidates with funding to help ease the challenges of balancing education, work, and caregiving responsibilities. This support is designed to reduce financial barriers that may impact academic progress and can be applied toward a variety of expenses or related supports that make managing both family and professional studies more achievable.

  2. Financial Assistance
    Application Deadline: April 1, 2026
    CPA Manitoba Foundation Financial Assistance provides support to eligible CPA candidates and students to help overcome financial barriers that may affect educational success. This assistance can be applied toward tuition, student fees, and a wide range of other expenses, including transcript assessments, tutoring, private courses, travel, child care, and related costs that support progress toward the CPA designation.

  3. Dowhan Family Enrichment Award
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026 
    The Dowhan Family Enrichment Award is presented to a 2025 Manitoba high school graduate who demonstrates an interest in obtaining the designation, or a CPA candidate or student. Applicants must demonstrate positive contributions and enhancements in their community, professional, academic or volunteer positions through sustainability or innovation.

  4. Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award is presented to an individual with the highest mark in Advanced Financial Reporting (AFR) in the 2025 calendar year. In the event of a tie, the award will be given to the individual with the highest mark in Intermediate Financial Reporting (IF2).

  5. Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The $1,500 Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is presented to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities.

  6. Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The $1,500 Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is provided to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate a passion for involvement in community activities and leadership abilities. 

  7. Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship 
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship is presented to an undergraduate accounting graduate of the I.H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba who has entered the CPA program with a minimum 3.5 GPA and has taken the specified financial and accounting courses. 

  8. Red River Mutual Scholarship
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The Red River Mutual Scholarship is presented to an individual who successfully completed one of the core CPA preparatory courses in 2025 and has volunteered in their community in a meaningful way. Preference will be given to those who currently reside in a rural community in Manitoba.

  9. Thomas Sill Community Service Award
    Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
    The Thomas Sill Community Service Award will be presented annually to up to two applicants in good standing, who demonstrate a passion for leadership through volunteering in Manitoba. The selected recipient(s) will also have the opportunity to award up to $7,000 in financial support to a charity of their choice. Individuals are encouraged to self-nominate or nominate a worthy candidate.
