Thomas Sill Community Service Award

Description

The Thomas Sill Community Service Award was established, in partnership with the Thomas Sill Foundation to honour Mr. Sill’s professional and charitable legacy. This $1,500 Thomas Sill Community Service Award annually recognizes up to two candidates, students or recent graduates who demonstrates a passion for leadership through volunteering in Manitoba. The selected recipient(s) will also have the opportunity to award up to $7,000 of support to a charity of their choice. You may self-nominate or nominate another candidate, but all nominations must be seconded.

Criteria

The nominee must be a Manitoba CPA preparatory student, CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) candidate, or recent graduate (CPA graduate within the last three years) that demonstrates excellence in the following areas:

Academic Accomplishment: must be a student or graduate in good standing; and

Community Involvement: contributions to community service or volunteer organizations.

Personal Statement Submission

  • Please submit a personal statement letter as an attached document. Applicants are encouraged to include any academic and non-academic accomplishments, personal characteristics, or experiences that make them uniquely worthy of consideration.
  • In a minimum of 300 words, the letter should explain:
    • The nominee's community leadership accomplishments;
    • Why community leadership through volunteering is important; and
    • What charitable organization the nominee would like to support and why.
  • For guidance in preparing a well-written personal statement letter, applicants are encouraged to review the CPA Manitoba Foundation's Application Tips and a sample letter.
