Unconscious or Implicit Bias

There are two categories of bias in studies today: conscious or explicit biases and unconscious or implicit biases. Unconscious bias is usually thought of as social stereotypes the typically focus on others that are not from the same conscious area. This session provides participants with a deeper understanding of these biases and how to overcome them for better working relationships.

       
Understanding unconscious or implicit bias provides the foundation for this seminar so that participants came come away with strategies to overcome biases in their workplaces and communities.

Applicable for:
Anyone who has the desire to work in a more collaborative way with people from divergent backgrounds. People who would like to better understand their personal bias and potential roadblocks to better communicate and lead with different groups.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the concepts of unconscious or implicit bias
  • Identify the effects of unconscious bias in the workplace
  • Communicate more inclusively

  • Information about systemic barriers to diversity and inclusion
  • Approaches individuals and groups can take to encourage inclusiveness
  • How to foster allyship and build on that success

Participants will be invited to take the free implicit bias test
