CPA Manitoba Foundation Awards and Scholarships

The CPA Manitoba Foundation is pleased to offer the following awards and scholarships. We ask that you encourage those in your organization who meet the requirements to apply.

Red River Mutual Scholarship 
The Red River Mutual Scholarship is presented to an individual who has successfully completed one of the core CPA preparatory courses (with a mark of 80% or higher) in 2020 and has volunteered in their community in a meaningful way. Preference will be given to those who currently reside in a rural community in Manitoba, however, all those who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply. Learn more about Red River Mutual and their commitment to the CPA Manitoba Foundation by viewing their donor profile.

Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award 
The Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award is presented to an individual with the highest mark in Advanced Financial Reporting (AFR) in the 2020 calendar year. In the event of a tie, the award will be given to the individual with the highest mark in Intermediate Financial Reporting (IF2).

Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship 
The Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship is provided to an accounting undergraduate who graduated from the I.H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba, has entered the CPA program with a minimum 3.5 GPA and has taken the specified financial and accounting courses.

Submit the completed application and any supplemental documents to Alexis Sutherland, Executive Assistant of the Foundation at foundation@cpamb.ca by January 29, 2021.

Application Deadline Extended: January 8, 2021

James W. Clarke Award, FCPA, FCA Award
The $1,000 James W. Clarke Award is provided to an Indigenous candidate who has successfully completed the CPA Common Final Exam. Preference will be given to those who express interest in Indigenous entrepreneurship or a career within an Indigenous business. Proof of Indigenous status will be required.

The Canada Life Leadership Award
The $1,500 Canada Life Leadership Award is provided to a successful 2020 (September or May) Common Final Exam candidates who exemplify excellence in academia, work and community activities. Applicants may nominate another candidate or self-nominate.

Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship
The $1,500 Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is provided to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities.
 
Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship
The $1,500 Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is provided to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate a passion for involvement in community activities and leadership abilities.
