The CPA Manitoba Foundation is pleased to offer a variety of award and scholarship opportunities for CPA candidates and students.

We ask that you encourage those in your organization who are eligible to apply or contact us. For awards requiring successful completion of the CFE, the Foundation encourages individuals or nominators to submit applications regardless in anticipation of CFE results.

Below is a listing of all award and scholarship opportunities available for CPA preparatory and Professional Education Program (PEP) candidates with information about criteria and deadlines.

Application Deadline: January 4, 2022

  1. The Canada Life Leadership Award

    The $1,500 Canada Life Leadership Award is presented to successful 2021 (May or September) Common Final Exam candidates who exemplify excellence in academia, work and community activities. Individuals are encouraged to self-nominate or nominate a worthy candidate.

  2. James W. Clarke Award

    The $1,000 James W. Clarke Award is presented to Indigenous candidates who have successfully completed the CPA Common Final Exam (May or September). Preference will be given to those who express interest in Indigenous entrepreneurship or a career within an Indigenous business. 

  3. Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship

    The $1,500 Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is presented to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities.

  4. Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship

    The $1,500 Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is provided to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrates a passion for involvement in community activities and leadership abilities. 

    Application Deadline: February 7, 2022

  5. Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award

    The Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award is presented to an individual with the highest mark in Advanced Financial Reporting (AFR) in the 2021 calendar year. In the event of a tie, the award will be given to the individual with the highest mark in Intermediate Financial Reporting (IF2).

  6. Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship

    The Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship is presented to an undergraduate accounting graduate of the I.H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba who has entered the CPA program with a minimum 3.5 GPA and has taken the specified financial and accounting courses.

  7. Red River Mutual Scholarship

    The Red River Mutual Scholarship is presented to an individual who has successfully completed one of the core CPA preparatory courses in 2021 and has volunteered in their community in a meaningful way. Preference will be given to those who currently reside in a rural community in Manitoba

  8. Thomas Sill Community Service Award

In partnership with the Thomas Sill Foundation, the CPA Manitoba Foundation is proud to present the Thomas Sill Community Service Award, which honours Mr. Thomas Sill’s incredible community contributions and professional legacy in Manitoba. This award will be presented annually up to two worthy individuals in good standing, who demonstrates a passion for leadership through volunteering in Manitoba. The selected recipient(s) will also have the opportunity to award up to $7,000 in financial support to a charity of their choice.*

Individuals are encouraged to self-nominate or nominate a worthy candidate.

*Please note award recipients must select a Manitoba charity that is consistent with the Thomas Sill Foundation mandate and granting guidelines. More information on the Thomas Sill Foundation can be found here.

New opportunity launching soon! In honour of Dean Emeritus Roland Grandpre, a memorial prize has been established by G.T. Steiman. The memorial prize will be issued in 2022 to two top Commerce Honours students from the I.H. Asper School of Business and are in good standing with the CPA Western School of Business.
