The seminar offerings include a collection of the most popular seminars over the last three years, first time offerings of hot topics and all required competency subjects. All seminars for the April 1st to August 31st session, will be video on-demand format, allowing members flexibility to take the seminars on their schedules.

The Professional Development fall and winter season options will be released on September 12. There will be hundreds of on-demand and live virtual courses to choose from with price points for every budget. A select number of courses will also be offered in person. Garth Sheriff is the founder of Sheriff Consulting.  His company specializes in designing and delivering professional and leadership skill courses for accounting and finance professionals. Sheriff Consulting’s mission is to provide an engaging approach to your continuing professional development (CPD).

Their online content is designed for maximum engagement using the latest developments in adult learning pedagogy and current research in technical, professional and leadership skills.  
Garth has worked as an assurance professional and learning provider for over 20 years.  He has prepared and trained CPAs for key changes to the profession, including internal control documentation (SOX), Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) and Canadian Standards on Review Engagements 2400 (CSRE 2400).

He earned a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours – Accounting) from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Professional Ethics: Improving Psychological Safety in the Workplace: Psychological safety is a measurement of how comfortable you are to share your thoughts and speak your mind in the workplace. Current research has shown that organizations and teams with higher psychological safety are more productive, creative, and happier. You will examine current research to understand psychological safety for organizations and teams will be introduced to ways to assess and improve it.

Focus on ASPE and Audit Engagement
ASPE - Update 2021: This seminar is for participants who want  to keep up with accounting standard changes and projects.  It will review recent revisions to Part II - Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), starting with an overview of the changes, followed by specific examples detailing their implementation. In addition, participants will receive practical guidance on common deficiencies in ASPE financial statements.

ASPE - Review of the Standards: This seminar reviews the standards in Part II – Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and identifies and outlines the accounting policy choices available to management for Applying ASPE.

ASPE - Real Estate Industry: Real estate entities have unique financial reporting issues under Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE). This course will use exercises and examples to illustrate these issues to provide practical advice for those involved.

Audit Engagements - Update 2021: This seminar reviews recent revisions to the CPA Canada Handbook–Assurance and other practice matters that have occurred over the last year.

Audit Engagements - Review of the Standards: Developed with the needs of professional accountants working in public practice in mind, this seminar provides a solid foundation in the practical application of the Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS) to audit engagements.

Audit Engagements - Overview of CAS 315 Revised Standard: This seminar introduces the revisions to CAS 315, Identifying and Assessing the Risks of Material Misstatement, which is effective for audits of financial statements for periods beginning on or after December 15, 2021.
