Partnership Unveils Revolutionary Accounting Pilot Program for Indigenous Learners

The Chartered Professional Accountants Western School of Business (CPAWSB), Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Alberta (AFOA Alberta), and CPA Canada announce a global-first accounting education pilot for Indigenous learners. In response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, this pilot addresses systemic barriers and incorporates Indigenous content, context, culture, and support structure to increase Indigenous representation in accounting.

CPA Manitoba is excited to be part of this pilot initiative which aims to reduce barriers to entry that Indigenous people face when joining the CPA profession. "The Indigenous Pilot project is a key initiative in the profession's journey towards reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous peoples. Through this work we aim to make the CPA profession more welcoming to Indigenous people which in turn enhances economic reconciliation in our province." - Geeta Tucker, FCPA, FCMA - President & CEO, CPA Manitoba and Executive Sponsor, National Indigenous Initiatives Guidance Committee
