CPA Manitoba Foundation Awards, Scholarships and Financial Assistance

 


 
The CPA Manitoba Foundation is pleased to offer a variety of award, scholarship and financial assistance opportunities for CPA Preparatory and Professional Education Program (PEP) candidates in Manitoba. 

The Foundation encourages you to share these opportunities with your networks or nominate a deserving individual to help empower future CPAs to unlock their full potential through education.

Below is a listing of all award, scholarship and financial assistance opportunities currently available, as well as information about criteria and deadlines.
 

  1. *NEW* Dowhan Family Enrichment Award
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    The Dowhan Family Enrichment Award is presented to a 2023 Manitoba high school graduate who demonstrates an interest in obtaining the designation or a CPA candidate or student. Applicants must demonstrate positive contributions and enhancements in their community, professional, academic or volunteer positions through sustainability or innovation. 

  2. Financial Assistance
    Application Deadline: February 1, 2024
    To assist aspiring CPAs on their journey to achieving the designation, the CPA Manitoba Foundation is proud to offer financial assistance to CPA candidates and students in Manitoba. Assistance is based on the demonstrated financial need and can provide funding for tuition, student fees, costs associated with transcript assessments, tutoring, private courses, travel assistance, and other fees.

  3. Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    The Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award is presented to an individual with the highest mark in Advanced Financial Reporting (AFR) in the 2023 calendar year. In the event of a tie, the award will be given to the individual with the highest mark in Intermediate Financial Reporting (IF2).

  4. Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    The $1,500 Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is presented to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities.

  5. Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    The $1,500 Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship is provided to individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate a passion for involvement in community activities and leadership abilities. 

  6. Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship 
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    The Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship is presented to an undergraduate accounting graduate of the I.H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba who has entered the CPA program with a minimum 3.5 GPA and has taken the specified financial and accounting courses. 

  7. Red River Mutual Scholarship
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    The Red River Mutual Scholarship is presented to an individual who has successfully completed one of the core CPA preparatory courses in 2023 and has volunteered in their community in a meaningful way. Preference will be given to those who currently reside in a rural community in Manitoba.

  8. Thomas Sill Community Service Award
    Application Deadline: March 1, 2024
    In partnership with the Thomas Sill Foundation, the CPA Manitoba Foundation is proud to present the Thomas Sill Community Service Award, which honours Mr. Thomas Sill’s incredible community contributions and professional legacy in Manitoba. This award will be presented annually up to two worthy individuals in good standing, who demonstrate a passion for leadership through volunteering in Manitoba. The selected recipient(s) will also have the opportunity to award up to $7,000 in financial support to a charity of their choice.* Individuals are encouraged to self-nominate or nominate a worthy candidate. 

    *Please note award recipients must select a Manitoba charity that is consistent with the Thomas Sill Foundation mandate and granting guidelines. More information on the Thomas Sill Foundation can be found here.

  3. Review the CPA Manitoba Foundation’s Application Tips
  4. Submit the completed nomination(s) and any supplemental documents to Alexis Sutherland, Executive Assistant of the Foundation via email by the specified deadlines.
