CPA Manitoba was honoured to sit down with Elder Betty Ross, a residential school survivor and Elder in Residence at Seven Oaks School Division, to have an important discussion about truth and reconciliation.
Session Description
Before we can consider any action related to reconciliation, it is important to gain a deep understanding of the truth. CPA Manitoba was honoured to sit down with Elder Betty Ross, a residential school survivor and Elder in Residence at Seven Oaks School Division. We discussed the important teachings offered by her late father at Sugar Falls, the atrocious impact residential schools had on her life, and how she is gathering the younger generations to create a reciprocal learning environment. The national bestselling book exploring her story, Sugar Falls, was published in 2011 and her story has been the inspiration for the documentary, Return to the Falls, which premiered in April 2024.
