Kirsten S. Albo, BComm(Hons), FCPA, FCA
Kirsten is the President of ASK KSA Consulting Inc. which offers specialized consulting and advisory services to small to mid-sized public accounting firms to help ensure they are onside with required standards in the most efficient and effective manner possible. The company provides a multitude of services such as compliance and monitoring, file efficiency reviews and training to help these firms succeed.

Kirsten has over 28 years of diversified business experience. Most of her career was spent at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where she was an assurance partner for public, private and NPO clients in a variety of industries. In this role she gained in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian assurance standards. She was known for her strong technical knowledge with the ability to apply it in a very practical manner. Kirsten is also a knowledgeable and skilled instructor having taught courses locally, nationally and internationally over the span of her career. Kirsten has also written and delivered specialized courses on various topics. Her varied background and exposure provides her with a unique aspect to business.

Brian Anderson, CPA, CA 
Brian is a tax director with Deloitte & Touche LLP in Winnipeg and has lectured for CPA Manitoba (ICAM) in both Student Education and Professional Development for many years. His teaching experience and easy delivery style are highly rated by participants of his seminars.

Marie Antaya, CTDP
Marie is an international speaker, author of four books and educator in a variety of subjects including business communication. Marie has shared her expertise with clients in private, non-profit and public sector organizations leading numerous program and course development projects. Marie specializes in designing and delivering informative, practical workshops tailored to the audience's needs.

Kim Antonio, LLB

Kim has practiced family law for 10 years. She has represented clients in both the Court of Appeal and Court of Queen's Bench in Manitoba. Her practice includes a range of cases that have been resolved in either negotiated settlements or Court proceedings. Where there is a practical resolution, Kim assists her clients through the process. She encourages engaging experts such as accountants, certified business valuators, actuaries, psychologists and marriage therapists to assist clients to reach a reasonable settlement.

Dean Austin, M.Acc., CPA, CA

Dean is a partner at Scarrow & Donald, Chartered Professional Accountants, LLP. He provides a wide range of enterprises with assurance, accounting, tax and business advisory services. His professional service experiences include publicly and privately held enterprises in real estate, hospitality, mining, manufacturing and transportation sectors as well as not-for-profit organizations. He is a seminar leader for CPA Manitoba’s professional development program and a recipient of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba Early Achievement Award and CPA Manitoba Meritorious Service Award.

René Bertrand, BSc

René is the chief consulting officer at 3D Performance Consulting and an associate with rogen Si. René works in developing skills and mindset to help achieve high performance and full potential. He has worked with different levels of various organizations in North America. René holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from Loyola University and various certifications supporting his work in three primary industries: financial services, professional services, communications and marketing.

Ward Blatch, CPA, CA, MCSA
Ward provides consulting and training services as a partner with K2E Canada throughout the United States and Canada. The professional development courses presented by Ward include cloud computing, business intelligence, security, technology updates, internal controls, paperless office, mobile office, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook. 

Ward obtained his CPA, CA designation while working at a Nova Scotia regional accounting firm before starting his own consulting and accounting practice. His practice provides accounting, tax, training, support and network evaluations for small businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

Vince Boschman, B.Comm. (Hons.), FCSI
Vince’s clients benefit from his ongoing professional development and comprehensive expertise in wealth management and financial planning. By meeting stringent standards for experience and accreditation, Vince is a licensed Portfolio Manager, allowing him to deliver the highest level of discretionary investment management advice to clients with sophisticated financial needs. Vince has completed the Professional Financial Planning course through the Canadian Securities Institute, achieved the Canadian Investment Management (CIM) designation and is options and derivatives licensed.

In addition to his Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree and his industry accreditations, Vince’s expertise and professionalism earned him the coveted Fellowship of the Canadian Securities
Institute (FCSI).

Mark Brubacher, CPA, CGA

Mark is an Indirect Tax Senior Manager with MNP LLP in Winnipeg.  He has been providing indirect tax advice on various GST/HST/PST and QST matters for many years.  In Mark’s practice, he provides services to a wide spectrum of industries including but not limited to: real estate, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, not-for-profits, telecommunications, healthcare, financial services, and owner operated businesses.  He has presented for various business associations, at annual tax updates and at the 2016 Prairie Provinces Tax Conference.

Johanna Caithness, BSc, BA, LLB
Johanna is a partner with Fillmore Riley LLP, who practices primarily in the areas of corporate and commercial law, taxation as well as wills and estates. She has published and presented numerous times on tax and wills and estate matters.

Greg Campeau, B.Comm
Since founding Campeau Learning in 1991, Greg has delivered over 2500 presentations and workshops throughout North America establishing a client list that that includes organizations such as … Lafarge, Telus, Finning, TD and Royal Banks, London Drugs, both Canadian and U.S. Federal Governments, BC Hydro, KPMG, Provincial Governments of Alberta and B.C. 

Concurrently for thirteen years Greg instructed courses at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) the School of Business in both Human Resource and Marketing faculties.

Before becoming a professional facilitator / speaker, Greg obtained an Honors Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Greg then went on to spend over 15 years in international packaged goods corporations (Nestle, Nabisco and Cadbury’s) achieving increasingly senior management positions while creating an outstanding track record of consistent success. Twice Greg led corporate divisions from worst to first in terms of overall performance (revenue growth, market share and profit).

Greg Campeau is a learner and teacher of timeless truths that that enhance both personal and organizational success and stability in the “white water world” of the 21st Century.

Paul Carrick, MSW, RSW
Paul is a passionate and engaging facilitator who has been providing respectful workplace and conflict resolution training, facilitation, and consulting services for individuals and workplaces for over 20 years. He holds a master’s degree in clinical social work and diploma in Human Resources, which complements his extensive experience in the fields of mental health, trauma, and workplace conflict. He believes in the importance of authenticity, transparency, accountability and works with the inherent strengths of individuals and organizations as they navigate change. Paul educates in a wide range of public and private sectors, delivering practical, applicable information for participants mixed with a humorous and engaging presentation style.

Anny Chen
Anny is second-generation Chinese-Canadian, raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Treaty 1 Territory, and is a program coordinator in Community Service-Learning at the University of Manitoba. She has a background in adult education and community development, and has facilitated workshops and programs for youth, university students, newcomers and other community members on the topics of anti-oppression, community engagement, Indigenous and non-Indigenous relations-building and more. Named one of the CBC Manitoba’s “Future 40” in 2017, Anny has been recognized for her work on racial inclusion with 13 Fires Winnipeg and in supporting Indigenous media with Red Rising Magazine, and strongly believes in the importance of showing up and getting your hands dirty when it comes to building healthy, safe and inclusive communities.

Blair Cook, CPA, CA, MBA
As an academic-practitioner, Blair is a perpetual learner who observes and experiments with various financial and management theories in real world context. He shares stories of his successes, failures and lessons learned to all those who share a passion for further developing their own financial leadership qualities. His focus is on defining and developing a career path for financial professionals aspiring to the Office of the CFO and the Board of Directors. Blair has worked extensively with CPA Canada in recent years to design, develop and launch the professional certification program.

Nora Christianson Fien, B.Sc., J.D.
Nora is an associate with Fillmore Riley LLP who practices primarily in the areas of taxation, corporate law, commercial law as well as wills and estates. She received her Juris Doctor from Robson Hall at the University of Manitoba in 2016. Prior to attending law school, Nora majored in Applied Mathematics at the University of Manitoba and earned her Bachelor of Science degree.

Cindy L. Desrochers, CPA, CA
Cindy is a senior manager in the PwC Canadian tax group and has 13 years of experience serving clients in the Winnipeg market. She provides Canadian tax services to a number of public and private clients. She has a broad range of experience in assisting clients with complex planning strategies and compliance issues across several different industries including the agriculture, manufacturing, retail, real estate and insurance sectors.

David Elrick, CPA, CA
David is a Tax Partner at BDO Canada LLP. He has experience providing corporate and personal tax planning strategies for family-owned businesses, entrepreneurs and large corporations. He specializes in advising clients undergoing an acquisition, disposition or restructuring of their business. His experience includes acquisition structuring, tax due diligence (both buy-side and sell-side), tax modeling, and post- acquisition services. David is experienced with teaching tax and has been a facilitator in CPA Canada’s in- depth tax course for the last 4 years.

Nicki Ferland
Nicki is a Two-Spirit Métis Sundancer from the Lorette and Îles-des-Chênes communities. She is the Indigenous coordinator in Community Service-Learning at the University of Manitoba. Her background is in human rights, Indigenous and anti-racist education, and Indigenous research. Nicki believes in giving back - she is an active volunteer with the Lorette Metis Local, Circles for Reconciliation, and Wahbung Abinoonjiiag, a family violence prevention centre in the North End. Nicki champions education that transforms society and contributes to social, economic and environmental justice. She has developed and delivered cultural awareness and diversity training for Manitoba Hydro, the Treaty Relations Commission of Manitoba and Fox Lake Cree Nation.

H. Michael Dolson
Mike practices in all areas of taxation law with an emphasis on corporate and international tax planning. Mike has advised on transactions ranging from reorganizations of owner-manager businesses to billion-dollar public corporation divestures. He has also provided opinions on a wide range of income tax and GST matters, including topics relating to cross-border structures, insurance arrangements, not-for-profit organizations, charities and municipalities.

Mike joined Felesky Flynn LLP as an articling student in 2009 upon completing his Bachelor of Laws Degree (with distinction) at the University of Western Ontario, where he received the Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP award in Tax Law, the Goodmans LLP Award in Taxation, the James G. McKee Taxation Award, the Insolvency Institute of Canada Bruce Leonard Prize in Insolvency Studies and the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize for academic standing. He has also completed his Master of Laws degree in United States taxation from New York University.

Mike is an avid writer and has presented for organizations including the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Canadian Bar Association, the Edmonton Tax Lawyers and Accountants Discussion Group and the Edmonton Tax Executive Community of Interest. In his free time, Mike is a sessional lecturer in corporate taxation at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law.

Scott Erickson

Scott has worked across the spectrum of human resources since 1999. This has included teaching in the Conflict Resolution Studies program at the University of Winnipeg, providing psychotherapy to adults, families and children and offering consulting services to high-performance athletes and leaders in the business and non-profit sectors. Scott is a certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, a professional member of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg. He also holds a Master of Education specializing in counselling from the University of Manitoba.

David Falk, MA
David is a Partner with Facilitated Solutions. He is a seasoned consultant, mediator and conflict management specialist who has been assisting organizations prevent, manage and resolve conflict since 1990. As an engaging facilitator who brings together practical wisdom, humour and real world examples, David will inspire you to consider new options and develop your skills to address challenging situations.

Adrian B. Frost, LLB
Adrian is a partner with Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP in Winnipeg. His practice focuses exclusively in the areas of labour relations, employment and human rights law. He acts as counsel and provides advice on all aspects of employment and collective bargaining relationships in a wide range of public and private sectors. Adrian is recognized as a leading lawyer in labour and employment law in the 2012-2016 editions of Best Lawyers in Canada and as a “Future Litigation Star” in the 2012-2016 editions of Benchmark Canada, the Guide to Canada’s Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys. In 2013 he was selected as a Lexpert® Rising Star: Leading Lawyer Under 40 by Lexpert® Magazine.

Adrian is currently the Manitoba Director of the Canadian Association of Counsel to Employers (CACE) and serves on the executive as Treasurer. He served as Co-Chair of the Manitoba Bar Association’s Labour and Employment subsection from 2009-2014. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Rainbow Stage Inc., a member of the Board of Directors of Small Scholars Inc. and a former President/Director of the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra Inc. and the Winnipeg Youth Orchestras Inc.

 He has been a cast member of many Manitoba Bar Association / Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre fundraising musical theatre productions (Chicago (2008), The Producers (2010), Legally Blonde (2013) and How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying (2014) and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2015), a helpful reminder that he should stick to the lawyering day job.

Carolyn Frost, LL, BA
Carolyn’s practice focuses on labour and employment, immigration and transportation law. She has appeared before all levels of Court in Manitoba and Federal Courts, the Manitoba Labour Board, Grievance Arbitrators, Workers Compensation Board and Canada Labour Code Adjudicators as well as a variety of administrative tribunals.

Dan Furlan, CHRP
Dan is a seasoned Human Resources professional with over 35 years of HR experience. He has been a manager, trainer and consultant in both public and private sectors, including manufacturing, finance, health care, the automotive and service industries and the non-profit sector. In addition to consulting, Dan is an active volunteer and has instructed in management and HR programs for Red River College and the University of Winnipeg.

Geoffrey A. Garland, CPA, CA
Geoff Garland is a tax partner at BDO Dunwoody LLP practicing in tax for over 15 years. With a broad experience with a variety of the firm’s clients he is knowledgeable regarding tax compliance and planning services for entrepreneurial-minded businesses. Over the years, Geoff has served clients in the automotive, agriculture, manufacturing and construction industries and works with them to spark new ideas and find innovative solutions. He regularly presents tax courses for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, has authored paper for the Canadian Tax Foundation Prairie Tax Conference, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accounts Annual National Tax Conference and presents to many of the firm’s clients and friends of the firm. In 2009, he was awarded the Early Achievement Award by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba for his distinguished professional achievements and volunteer service. Outside of BDO, Geoff has been involved with the Estate Planning Council of Winnipeg as Past President and volunteers time coaching kids sports.

Greg Gartner, CA, MBA, LLB, QC
Every self-respecting Alberta company needs one and with Greg Gartner, Moodys Gartner has themselves a bona fide maverick. Greg thrives on finding new and innovative ways to make things happen. He sees problems as just something to figure out how to solve. The bigger they are the more interesting it is. He will find a way to close the deal and he will not stop until he has looked at things from every angle and found the right solution. This “there’s always a way” attitude is not surprising from a guy who used to be a professional barefoot water skier (in Edmonton?) and a roping-riding- rancher cowboy.

Jim Gaston, FCPA, FCA
Jim is a retired PwC partner after 25 years as a partner with the firm in a variety of senior roles. Throughout his career he has been involved with due diligence for acquisitions and all aspects of mergers and acquisitions leading assignments in this area for dozens of clients. His varied roles as a partner have involved him in risk management information technology and leading large audits.

Diane Gaudon, FCPA, FCGA

Diane has her own practice providing GST/HST/QST and provincial sales tax advice and training to businesses of all sizes across North America. Over the past 25 years, she has gained extensive accounting and taxation expertise spanning many industries. She is a popular speaker who frequently presents commodity tax related material to professional organizations. Diane has also authored numerous publications and courses. In addition, Diane was on the Ontario provincial government HST Implementation Committee.

Rob Gilfoyle
Rob has over 15 years of experience offering leadership training to public and private sector organizations, including Fortune 500 companies in North America, Asia, Europe and Africa. 

Rob has developed particular expertise in providing leadership development programs to the professional service sector, including the accountancy, legal, management consulting and engineering professions. He regularly provides PD seminars to members of CPABC, CPA Alberta and CPA Saskatchewan.

Tom Gillespie, CPA, CA 
Tom is a director and co-founder of Clearline Consulting CPA. He has over ten years of accounting and assurance experience having been the associate director of practice review with CPABC as well as a professional standards advisor. Prior to working with CPABC he was an audit manager with a major international accounting firm. Tom provides file compliance, monitoring, in-house training, audit planning and on-going consulting services to CPA firms and practitioners, helping them succeed and build thriving practices.

Bud Goff 
Bud is a Manager in Deloitte’s US corporate tax practice in Winnipeg with five years of experience. His work focuses primarily the US corporate and cross border tax issues facing Canadian-based businesses. Bud received his law degree from the University of Minnesota and holds an LLM in US tax from the University of Miami.

Karen Granville, Hons. BMath
With a passion for order and organization, Karen loves to help people get organized and be more proficient both personally and professionally. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Operations Research and Combinatorics and Optimization from the University of Waterloo. She has several years of business experience with the oil industry and has lectured at a number educational institutions. Karen is a senior associate with K2E Canada Inc and has conducted over a hundred seminars for the CPA Associations across Canada. She has run her own training and consulting company for over 20 years.

Kenneth W. Grower, BA, FCPA, FCA, TEP 
Kenneth was the Senior Tax Partner of BDO Dunwoody LLP in Manitoba. Ken continues to provide tax planning advice to clients of Pavilion Advisory Group Ltd. He is an accomplished speaker and has presented a large number of tax-related seminars. He is a Past Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation and was one of the lecturers of the CICA In-Depth Tax Course - "Income Tax Practice" for 8 years. Ken has presented tax courses for the Manitoba and Saskatchewan Institutes for several years.

Paul Grower, BA (Hons), LLB 
Paul is a partner with Fillmore Riley LLP who practices primarily in the area of tax dispute resolution and tax litigation. Paul has appeared before the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal, as well as the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. He has published and presented numerous times on the topics of tax dispute and litigation to both the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Jeff Harrison, CPA, CMA
Jeff Harrison has been an indirect tax practitioner for over 26 years. He currently resides in Regina, Saskatchewan as a partner with MNP LLP as part of their national indirect tax service line. He spent over 7 years as a GST auditor with the Canada Revenue Agency, starting when the GST was first introduced in 1991. He has spent the next 19 years in public practice working in some of the largest accounting firms specializing in indirect taxes including provincial sales tax. 

Jeff is from Saskatchewan and serves clients of all types and sizes in most industry sectors including mining & energy, financial services, retail, manufacturing, non-profit/charity, among others. He is an experienced practitioner who can work with complex transactions and determine innovative and practical strategies to applying legislation. He serves clients throughout Saskatchewan as well as other parts of Canada. He is a frequent speaker, writer and presenter to many organizations over the years to promote a better understanding of the sales taxes.

Stuart Hartley, FCA, CA·IT
Stuart is the President of FocusROI Inc., a specialized consulting firm that provides value to professionals through, training, authoring, monitoring, risk management and internal auditing services. Stuart is the author of the CICA Professional Engagement Manual, the CICA Quality Assurance Manual and “Risk Management, primer for Directors of not for profit organizations”. He is a sought-after speaker and has written many articles.

Kari Hasselriis, CTDP
Kari is an associate of Eclectic Communications – a highly recognized training and consulting company specializing in communication development. Kari's work as an educator has been a passion for over 15 years. Her extensive experience includes instructing in a variety of formal classroom settings both locally and internationally, as well as offering private instruction at leading companies in Russia and Czech Republic. She has also participated in program and course development projects. Kari’s dedication has helped hundreds of people improve their language and communication skills. Her wealth of experience, coupled with her dynamic, energetic style makes her a popular and effective instructor.

Pat Hirst, B. Comm, CAE, CCR
Pat began her career in sales and marketing in the transportation sector. She then became a workplace mediator. She has taught negotiation with the University of Winnipeg and many organizations throughout Canada. Pat is the author of In a Perfect World: Interpersonal Skills for Life.

Brian Janzen, CPA, CA
Brian is a senior manager with Deloitte LLP in Winnipeg, specializing in areas such as tax planning for Canadian individuals and corporations, estate planning and planning relating to charitable giving. Brian has taught several courses for CPA Manitoba (ICAM) and has been a CICA in-depth tax course tutor for a number of years.

John Jeninga, BBA
John is currently a tax consultant with over 25 years of indirect tax experience. He provides a wide range of services for taxpayers. His expertise includes advising on the GST/HST and PST consequences of major transactions, such as capital acquisitions and real property transactions as well as reviewing and analyzing indirect tax issues for taxpayers.

Previously John was with MNP and PwC in their lndirect Tax Groups, providing advice, interpretations and solutions on GST/HST, PST and other indirect tax matters. He also provided assistance and representation for audits, assessments and appeals as well as technical writing on various GST/HST and PST topics.

Prior to returning to public practice, John was a Senior Technical Analyst in the GST/HST Rulings division of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for almost 15 years, where he provided interpretations and rulings on various GST/HST issues. He also participated in the introduction and implementation of the GST, by serving as an instructor/facilitator a GST Introductory Legislation Course at the Red River Community College and presenting workshops and seminars for businesses, charities and not-for-profit organizations.

John received an Honours Bachelors degree Business Administration from the Richard lvey School of Business (University of Western Ontario), where he majored in accounting.

Dr. Vijay Jog
Vijay is the Chancellor Professor at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University and a leading authority in corporate finance and performance. He is a chemical engineer with MBA and a Ph.D. in finance from McGill University. His expertise is in the area of corporate performance, corporate governance, taxation and the role of capital markets in financing the enterprises including initial public offerings. He is an active researcher and has received over a $1 million in research grants.

He is the author of textbooks, has published numerous articles in international journals and has won many national and international awards for his research and publications. He has also been awarded research achievement awards by Carleton and Professor of the Year awards by Sprott students. He was recently recognized as “Leaders in Management Education” in Canada by National Post and described as “Mr. Value Added” by Ottawa Citizen.

Vijay Jog consults extensively for many government departments, crown corporations, and private sector firms in Canada, U.S., Caribbean, Europe and South Africa. He is a frequently sought-after speaker and a session leader at many executive development seminars and annual gatherings/meeting organized by some of the leading professional organizations and companies.

David Jung
David has provided leadership for various non-profit organizations for over 25 years. He has a degree in philosophy, a diploma in counselling, as well as certifications in conflict resolution and mediation. In addition to training with ACHIEVE, David works in the field of mediation where he volunteers as a mediator for the court diversion program in Manitoba. In whatever role David finds himself, his passion for motivating people to continue on their personal journey of learning and growth shines through. David believes that no matter what our role is in the workplace, we can all continue to grow in our skills to improve our own life and to help improve the lives of others. As a trainer, he is known for his dynamic workshop facilitation that combines humour and real-world application.

Leilani Kagan, LLP
Leilani’s practice is focused on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, with a primary focus on owner-manager taxation issues, corporate reorganizations, estate planning, trusts and commodity tax issues. Leilani’s practice includes charities and non-profit organizations.

Bradley Keefe, CPA, CA
Bradley is a Senior Manager with Fort Group Chartered Professional Accountants Inc. (Fort Group) specializing in financial statement audit of not-for-profit and public-sector organizations. Prior to joining Fort Group, Bradley worked at the Office of the Auditor General of Manitoba for 15 years and was responsible for the audit of the Government of Manitoba’s Summary Financial Statements from 2012 to 2016. Bradley is an experienced facilitator and session leader with the CPA Western School of Business and CPA Canada.

Cindy Kottoor, as President and Founder of Neverest, designs, develops and delivers customized training for individuals within corporations, the public sector, professional institutes and public accounting firms, covering a variety of disciplines, including accounting & finance, risk management, internal audit and external audit.

Cindy was previously an Audit & Assurance Manager at Deloitte where she specialized in the financial services industry. She was Vice-President, Efficiency Services, for AuditWatch Inc., a US based training and consulting firm, where she focused primarily on designing and delivering training courses to meet the training needs of public accounting firms. Cindy was a Senior Manager for the Internal Audit Services department of RBC Financial Group, leading the Quality Assurance function for the internal audit group. Most recently, Cindy was an Associate Director at Protiviti, where she specialized in risk management and corporate governance, by providing internal audit and business risk consulting services to her clients.

Cindy is a Chartered Professional Accountant, and a graduate of the University of Waterloo, Honours Bachelor of Arts – Accounting and a Master of Accounting.

Cindy has authored articles, moderated webinars, and authored courses for CPA Canada, including the “Auditing Refresher” and the “Risk Assessment Workshop for Small and Medium-Sized Business”. She is also the co-author of the CPA Ontario “Internal Control Guide” and the CPA Canada guide, “Audits of Not-for-Profit Organizations: Risk Assessment under Canadian Auditing Standards”.

Cindy is a member of the Risk & Audit Committee for the Ontario March of Dimes. She is also an active member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), was a member of the Education and Nominating Committees, is an IIA Quality Assurance Validator and is a speaker at Toronto Chapter events. In 2011, Cindy received the CPA Ontario (formerly ICAO) Award of Distinction and was identified as a “Super CA” by CA Magazine.

John F. Kelly, FCPA, FCA
John is a partner with Scarrow & Donald in Winnipeg. John's clients include public companies, owner-managed enterprises and not-for-profit associations. He was a member of the Auditing Standards Board for four years and was Chair of its Western Section.

Perry Kiefer, CPA, CA
Perry joined Felesky Flynn LLP as a consultant in 2011 and he practices in all areas of personal and corporate taxation with a focus on matters affecting owner managed enterprises and their shareholders, such as tax optimization strategies for corporations and their executives, corporate reorganizations and the implementation of effective estate planning strategies.

Kyla Kramps, CPA, CA, CBV 
Kyla is a Director at St. Boniface General hospital focusing on financial planning and business intelligence. Prior to obtaining her role at the hospital, Kyla lead PwC Winnipeg's Valuation, Modelling and Disputes practice. In that role, Kyla practiced in business valuations for tax and estate planning, disputes, financial statements and mergers and acquisitions. Kyla also practiced in the areas of business interruption for insurance claims, economic impact assessment studies, forensic services, financial analysis and litigation support. Kyla is published on the subject of valuations in The Journal of Business Valuation. Kyla is a graduate of the University of Manitoba and was the Canadian gold medalist on the entrance exam to become a CBV.

Howie Kroon, CPA, CA
Howie is currently working as a management consultant providing strategic, operational, financial and business coaching to CEO’s and their executive teams. He has a strong skill set in assisting clients with difficult situations. Previously, he was the CEO/President of Palliser Lumber Sales in Calgary. Michael Labun
Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Certificate in Conflict Resolution. He has over twenty years of experience as a leader in the mediation and conflict resolution field. Mike believes that education and training is largely about giving hope - people often come to a training to address a situation and they want to leave with a plan to change it. In addition to facilitating workshops, he is a Mediator and works as one of ACHIEVE’s Training and Development Specialist.

Colin Lane, CPA, CA
Colin is a senior manager in the PwC Canadian tax group in the Winnipeg office, where he’s been assisting public and private corporate clients for the past six years. Colin focuses on helping his clients with a variety of tax planning, structuring and compliance matters. Mariska Loeppky, CPA, CA
Mariska is Director, Tax and Estate Planning, in the Advanced Financial Planning department of Investors Group. Mariska obtained her Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree from the University of Manitoba in 2002. After graduation, Mariska joined a public accounting firm that focused on serving mid-market and owner-managed businesses. In January of 2005, she obtained her Chartered Accountant Designation. Mariska spent the next ten years providing business and tax advice for a number of mid- size and larger owner-managed groups of companies in a variety of industries. 

Mariska completed Part I, II and III of the CICA In-Depth Tax Course Program (2004-2007) and attended the CICA Corporate Reorganization and Advanced Owner-Manager Planning courses in 2010 and 2011. Dustin Mansfield, CPA, CA
Dustin is a partner in BDO’s Brandon office, with over 10 years of professional experience providing specialty tax services to individuals and private corporations.

Lukas Neville, Ph. D.
Lukas Neville is an assistant professor of organizational behaviour at the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba. He holds a Ph.D. from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University. Lukas teaches in the B.Comm, MBA and Executive Education programs at the Asper School, and has facilitated training and workshops for audiences in a range of industries, including telecommunications, health care, and financial services. Lukas’ research and teaching interests relate to helping individuals, organizations and teams recover from conflict and workplace transgressions. His most recent research, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, relates to forgiveness in the workplace, and his previous research has been published in journals in the fields of management and organizational psychology. Eileen Pease, BA, B.Ed., M.Ed., CHRP
Eileen loves to work with you and your brain. She has 25 years of experience teaching Speed Reading and many courses related to thinking and interpersonal skills in the workplace. Jim Otar, CFP, BSc, MEng

Wendy (Phaneuf) Sikora

Wendy has over 20 years of experience in leadership development. Her comprehensive teaching style equips clients with workable techniques to positively impact performance, productivity and employee retention. In 1997, Wendy established The Training Source to improve the effectiveness of leaders and organizations. In private practice, she has worked with thousands of leaders across multiple sectors and industries and sustains a loyal client network representing diverse international and regional organizations. Scott Powell, CPA, CA 
Scott is Managing Director of our Canadian operations. Now based in Vancouver, Scott spent most of his career in London, New York and Hong Kong. Scott has designed and delivered workshops for organizations as diverse as Accenture, Allied Irish Bank, AMEC, ATB Financial, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, JP Morgan, BC Ferries, Coast Capital Savings, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, ICBC, ING and CPA Canada.

Scott is a CPA, CA and a UK Chartered Accountant who holds an Honours degree in Politics/Economics from Trent University, Canada and a master’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University.

Steve Prentice
Steve has degrees in journalism and psychology and is a partner with The Bristall Group. He is a specialist in organizational psychology, with a focus on workplace productivity. He also works as a project manager and writer for a number of international clients and lectures for the Management Program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.

Stephen Priddle, CPA, CA, CMA
Stephen is the President and Founder of Practical PD. An engaging and experienced seminar leader and conference speaker, Stephen weaves practical tips together with stories from his business experience and input from participants. Seasoning the mix with a dose of accounting humour, he serves up useful and dynamic seminars. He is also the Vice-President, Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of SureWx Inc. Dean Schinkel, CPA, CA, CBV
Dean Schinkel is the Office Managing Partner for the Winnipeg office of Deloitte. Dean also leads the Merger and Acquisitions and Valuations practice for Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

He has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions from strategy to valuation, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation and closing. He has worked with strategic buyers and sellers as well as financial investors such as private equity and venture capital funds.

Dean has completed valuations across a broad array of industries for shareholder planning, divestiture, tax and dispute situations. His valuation experience involves critically analyzing financial statements, assessing risk and alternatives and quantifying value drivers.

Sandra Scott
Sandra has diverse work experience which includes working in the field of addictions, managing disability appeals, and negotiating and settling litigated matters at mediations. Trained as a Therapist, she has a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. As a trainer and facilitator with ACHIEVE, Sandra is passionate about helping organizations focus on mental health and well-being in the workplace. She has an exceptional interest in conflict resolution, relationships and understanding perspective. Sandra views most situations from a systems lens whether she’s in a family or organizational setting. Karl Schaub, PFP, CFP

He was an adjunct professor at York University for 15 years. He is a frequent course director and course author for many organizations including provincial bodies of Chartered Professional Accountants across Canada and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Jeffrey has authored many articles for a variety of magazines and has written over twenty books.

Ryan Standil 
Ryan gives seminars to accountants and lawyers on the topic of effective written communication. His seminars provide concrete advice, leaving participants with steps for drafting e-mails and documents. Ryan attended the Ivey Business School for undergraduate and Western Law for law school. He worked at a corporate law firm in Toronto before founding his writing company, called Write to Excite.

Eric Stutzman
As Managing Director of ACHIEVE Centre for Leadership & Workplace Performance, Eric provides the overall direction for the development and delivery of ACHIEVE’s workshops and services. He has provided leadership in the field of conflict resolution and mediation since completing a degree in Sociology with a focus on mediation and peacemaking. Jason Treloar, CPA, CA
Jason is the leader of the Deloitte assurance advisory group based in Winnipeg that is dedicated to providing advice and support to finance teams on all aspects of the finance function. Jason have over 13 years of public accounting and advisory experience with Deloitte.

Through the advisory practice Jason has significant experience providing advice to CFO’s and finance teams on complex accounting matters, transactions advisory, as well as finance modernization initiatives. Jason has significant experience supporting clients on complex accounting and policy matters in multiple accounting frameworks including International Financial Reporting Standards.

Jason also has a broad base of experience serving public company, private company and public sector clients in an audit capacity.  In addition to client roles, Jason is an experienced facilitator providing training sessions for Deloitte and CPA Manitoba.

Sheryl Troup, CPA, CA
Sheryl is a Director, Tax and Estate Planning, in the Advanced Financial Planning department of Investors Group. Sheryl obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Winnipeg in 2000, her Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Manitoba in 2003, and her Chartered Accountant designation in 2006. Sheryl then completed the CICA InDepth tax program in 2009. Prior to working at Investors Group, she worked for a national accounting firm, where as a senior tax manager, she worked with owner- managed businesses, farms, and high net worth individuals in planning for various life- cycles of their businesses. At Investors Group, she is responsible for providing advanced tax and estate planning support to their extensive network of consultants throughout Canada.

Christa Walkden, CPA (ND), MST, TEP
As Founder and president of 49th Parallel Tax Services Inc., Christa navigates the ever-evolving U.S. tax laws for both American expatriates and Canadians who are working or investing south of the border. Throughout her career, Christa has provided expert counsel on U.S. tax matters, including estate planning, structuring and compliance and planning for personal, corporate and state income tax.

Christa is a seasoned public speaker and earned her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation from the Minnesota State Board of Accountancy. She is currently licensed with the state of North Dakota. Most recently, Christa earned her Trust and Estate Practitioner designation (TEP) as an experienced practitioner.

Garrett Wasny, MA, CMC, CITP/FITP

Jack Waterman, CPA, CA, CMA
Jack is a senior manager in the Grant Thornton tax group in Winnipeg. He specializes in personal and corporate tax preparation and planning, estate planning, corporate reorganizations and dealing with the Canada Revenue Agency. Jack has a significant amount of experience across a wide variety of industries including construction, real estate and manufacturing.

Marion Williams, FLMI 
Marion has over 20 years of experience in business management solutions. She is a senior associate with K2E Canada Inc. and has conducted over a hundred seminars for CPA bodies across Canada. As the owner of a computer consulting company, Marion provides software training and develops databases. Marion teaches the Microsoft Office suite, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook, specializing in Access and Excel.

In addition, Marion designs, develops, tests and implements custom Access databases using VBA where necessary.

Chris Wyman
Chris is VP, Learning and Development with MDA Training Inc. Previously Chris held the role of Director of Internal Audit at a Canadian financial institution. Chris has experience with corporate governance, risk and compliance. He also has operational experience in commercial, private and retail banking.

Chris is a CPA (CMA). He is also a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Risk Management Assurance Professional and is accredited by the Institute of Internal Auditors to facilitate IIA Courses
