Dowhan Family Enrichment Award

Description

In recognition of the profound importance of sustainability and innovation and their impact on our communities in Manitoba, the Dowhan Family Enrichment Award, led by Gordon Dowhan, FCPA, FCA, and his late father, Allen Dowhan, FCPA, FCMA, recognizes an applicant who actively enriches their communities in a positive and meaningful way through innovation and sustainability.

Criteria

The applicant must be a Manitoba student who is:

  • A 2025 high school graduate with interest in obtaining the designation, or
  • A candidate or student who is currently enrolled in the CPA Program and is in good standing with the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB).

All applicants must demonstrate excellence in:

  • Making positive contributions and enhancements in their community, professional, academic or volunteer positions through sustainability or innovation.

Preference will be given to applicants from a rural community.

Personal Statement Submission

  • Please submit a personal statement letter as an attached document. Applicants are encouraged to include any academic and non-academic accomplishments, personal characteristics, or experiences that make them uniquely worthy of consideration.
  • In a minimum of 300 words, the letter should explain:
    • The applicant's sustainability or innovative-oriented initiatives that include the responsibilities, accomplishments, timeline of involvement, and impact to the community;
    • Demonstrated interest in obtaining the CPA designation; and
    • The personal importance of this award.
  • For guidance in preparing a well-written personal statement letter, applicants are encouraged to review the CPA Manitoba Foundation's Application Tips and a sample letter.
