The Exponential Accountant - How to Win in a Disruptive Era

For decades, we have designed the job of an accountant to be as efficient as possible. Today, the game has changed - the improbable is the new normal. We are now looking beyond efficiency and focusing on evolution.

Shawn Kanungo provides a bold road map for the future. From artificial intelligence to blockchain to voice technology, he will help to make sense of the rapidly changing demographic and technological trends shaping the future of accountants.

He also discusses that the rise of exponential technologies requires an “exponential mindset”. Instead of thinking about accountants being 5-10% more efficient, we need to think about being 5-10x better. This is the foundation for – what he calls - the “Exponential Accountant”.

New Business Practices for a New Normal

2020 and likely a lot of 2021 are years that many of us would like to forget. While tragic is so many ways – job loss, personal sacrifice, loss of life - there were many lessons learned. We saw countless tales of amazing resilience and creative inspiration. These are the memories, the best practices, and the growth mindset we want to hold onto from this experience. We have all learned to adapt and run our businesses differently than ever before. In this session, you will learn how the COVID-19 pandemic forever changed our working lives. There is a new normal that is still being determined but is guaranteed to be different than life before.

Disruption DNA

Disruptors see the world differently. They bring unique viewpoints, technologies, talent and ideas from all over the world. Building a Disruption DNA within organizations requires us to abandon the set of ideas and practices that may have made us once successful.

To build both mindset and muscle around disruption, individuals and teams need to take control of their own destiny. It requires us to make bold decisions in a world of uncertainty. How do we reinvent ourselves? How do we start building our Disruption DNA? This is not a genetic predisposition; this is a muscle that innovators build by continuously thinking and acting differently.

In this high-energy and inspiring session, Shawn Kanungo will outline the blueprint on how organizations can enable themselves to not only become immune to disruption, but to be disruptive themselves.
