Moving Upwards with Risk Management

Multi-segment.  In dealing with our increasingly complex and fast-moving world, Risk Management is truly becoming a key discipline to master. Today’s successful organizations are the ones that are best able to understand risk, manage risk, and leverage risk as part of their competitive advantage.
This course is intended to provide participants with a review of base risk management fundamentals, and then introduce key risk management tools. The course includes time to practice applying those tools to their specific situations. The course has been recently updated to discuss and incorporate current topics such as ESG in relation to Risk Management.

Applicable for

Those responsible for setting and achieving an organization’s objectives should also be responsible for effectively managing related risks. The following organization roles include:

· Accomplished persons already working in organizational Risk Management roles

· Senior leaders with strategy-setting and decision-making responsibilities (e.g., CFOs, CROs)

· Board members with the desire to inform their risk oversight roles

Content

· Revisiting the fundamentals of Enterprise Risk Management:

     o Setting the context for Risk Management including understanding the external and internal drivers of organizations, Risk Appetite and Risk Tolerance, Roles and Responsibilities and the 5 Lines of Defense model

     o Identifying and prioritizing Risks

     o Treating and responding to risks – accepting, avoiding, transferring, or reducing the risks through control mitigation

     o Monitoring risks focusing on developing Key Risk Indicators

· Providing critical risk management tools as part of your Risk Management arsenal – Risk Heat Maps, Risk Registers, Risk Bow Ties and Key Risk Indicator Dashboards

· Understanding how you can best communicate to and advise on, risk and risk management with Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

· Understanding and managing ESG using a Risk Management lens
