CPA Manitoba is pleased to announce that Kimberley Kummen, CPA, CMA, has been named President & CEO. She will join the organization this summer.

Her senior-level experience, financial acumen, and ability to navigate complex governance environments will be a strong asset to the profession during a time of change and opportunity. As a collaborative leader guided by integrity and accountability, I am confident that she will foster trust and engagement with our members and key stakeholders,” says Debbie Grenier, FCPA, FCA, Chair of the CPA Manitoba Board. 

The CEO Selection Committee, appointed by the Board, carried out a comprehensive search process, evaluating candidates from a wide range of backgrounds. “I am incredibly excited about the exceptional candidate selected to lead CPA Manitoba, Kimberley Kummen. I was deeply impressed by the strength, diversity, and calibre of the CPAs who expressed interest in this opportunity and view it as a reflection of the passion, leadership, and commitment within our membership and profession. I also want to extend my sincere thanks to our Search Committee and Board members for their thoughtful collaboration and dedication throughout this important process for CPA Manitoba and the profession in our province,” says Lynn Bailey, FCPA, Chair of the CEO Selection Committee. 
 
Kimberley Kummen is a proud CPA Manitoba member who brings extensive experience in regulated, public-interest organizations with a strong record of governance-focused leadership, financial stewardship, and organizational transformation. 

She received her accounting designation in 2002 while working as a consultant. From 2006 to 2020, she held progressive roles with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, beginning as a Financial Analyst and rising through the ranks to Chief Administrative Officer & Executive Director, Support Services, Grace Health Campus.
 
In 2020, Kimberley transitioned to the role of Chief Financial Officer for The Manitoba Teachers’ Society. There, she provided strategic advice and decision-making support to the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team, guiding fiduciary stewardship and daily operations. She supported financial governance for the organization, which represents 16,600 members. 
 
She currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer/Chief Financial Officer for the St. James-Assiniboia School Division, where she provides strategic leadership and fiduciary oversight for all financial, business, and administrative operations of the Division. As a trusted advisor to the Board of Trustees, she offers financial counsel, risk assessment, and policy guidance to ensure sound governance and fiscal accountability.

My past experiences have strengthened my appreciation for the privilege of self-regulation, the importance of public trust, and the need for transparent, principled decision-making in professional bodies. I look forward to connecting with and championing the interests of the 9,000 members, candidates, and students in our province,” says Kimberley Kummen, CPA, CMA, on looking forward to her role as President & CEO of CPA Manitoba.

Kathy Zaplitny, CPA, will remain as the Interim CEO until Kimberley's start date. Following that time, she will resume her role as Senior Director, Stakeholder Services and Engagement. “The Board of Directors thanks Kathy for her leadership and commitment to continuity for CPA Manitoba during this transition,” says Debbie Grenier, FCPA, FCA.
