2023 CPD Reporting Requirements for Members

It is that time of year, where as a member, you should be checking to see if you will meet the continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for the year and the three-year rolling cycle ending December 31, 2023. As a reminder, all CPD learning activities are to be completed in 2023 and reported no later than April 1, 2024.

Members are reminded of Rule 203 of the CPA Manitoba Code of Professional Conduct which requires members to maintain and uphold professional competencies by keeping informed of and complying with developments in professional standards in all functions in which they provide professional services or are relied upon because of being a CPA.

CPD is any new learning and development that is relevant and appropriate to your professional/work role and growth as a CPA. Members must only report the actual number of hours spent developing professional competencies.

CPD can be reported at any time of the year through the member portal login page. You can also review your previously reported CPD hours to determine if additional CPD learning activities are required to fulfill the minimum CPD requirements by December 31, 2023. To prevent underreporting of CPD, members are encouraged to report any CPD learning activities as completed instead of all at once at the end of the year and to plan CPD activities for the remainder of the current year accordingly.

*Additional CPD may be fulfilled either by verifiable or unverifiable learning activities.

CPD Verification
Each year CPA Manitoba will select a sample of CPD reports for the prior three-year rolling period and verify the CPD learning activities reported and supporting documentation. Members are reminded that you are required to retain all supporting documentation for a period of five years. If a member is not able to provide satisfactory proof, denial of verifiable CPD reporting may occur.
